After championship hat trick, Chicago celebrates Blackhawks

CHICAGO — Jonathan Toews kissed and hoisted the Stanley Cup as he was introduced toward the end of the latest raucous rally honoring the Chicago Blackhawks. Then the captain headed toward the back of the stage at Soldier Field.

The roaring crowd wanted more and, as usual, he delivered.

“We all know this is amazing to be able to hoist this thing,” a hoarse Toews said. “But to do it on home ice in front of you guys, in front of our fans, to share this with you guys, the best fans in the world — it doesn’t get any better than this.”

He thanked the crowd and added: “Maybe the only way it does get better is if we win four.”

Tens of thousands of fans turned out on a warm, humid Thursday to cheer their beloved Blackhawks as they celebrated their third Stanley Cup championship in the past six years with a downtown parade and a rally at Soldier Field.

Goalie Corey Crawford told the fans “you guys made this unbelievable.” Duncan Keith, the defenseman who won the Conn Smythe trophy as the playoffs MVP, hinted at another win saying, “four sounds better than three.” Earlier, the crowd cheered for Blackhawks legends Bobby Hull, Denis Savard and Tony Esposito.

Former Blackhawks star Stan Mikita, who suffers from a progressive brain disorder, wasn’t left out.

“Stan … we’re thinking of you,” said Hall of Fame play-by-play announcer Pat Foley, the emcee.

The Blackhawks captured their latest championship with a victory over Tampa Bay in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final at the United Center on Monday night. It was the first time Chicago has won the Cup on home ice since 1938 and the Blackhawks haven’t stopped celebrating since.

Players, coaches and team executives rode to the rally in double-decker buses, passing screaming fans of all ages decked out in red and black, as they wound their way from the United Center downtown to Michigan Avenue and the rally at the home of the Chicago Bears. “Let’s go Hawks!” chants rang throughout downtown.

It was a familiar scene for this Original Six franchise, and another reminder just how far it has come in recent seasons, with Toews and Patrick Kane leading the way.

The Blackhawks won it all in 2010, ending a 49-year championship drought, and captured the Cup again in 2013. But this year’s run was different. The Blackhawks endured the suicide of their longtime equipment manager Clint Reif, the death of former teammate Steve Montador and Patrick Kane’s broken collarbone.

Yet there they were on Thursday, celebrating the franchise’s sixth championship. Chicago is the first NHL team to win three titles in a six-year span since Detroit in 1997, 1998 and 2002.

It’s hard to believe that this organization not long ago was little more than an afterthought in Chicago and the “Madhouse cheap nfl jerseys on Madison” felt more like a library with its sparse crowds. The late owner Bill Wirtz refused to televise home games and drove away franchise icons such as Hull and Mikita.

Those two now have statues outside the arena, and the Blackhawks have a vice-like grip on the city.

“What a great day for the city of Chicago and the state of Illinois,” new Gov. Bruce Rauner, decked out in a black Toews jersey, said as he exited the United Center before the parade. “This is fantastic wholesale jersyes to celebrate one of the greatest franchises in all of sports.”

Soldier Field was rocking in a way that it rarely did last fall, with the Bears struggling. But with the Blackhawks taking center stage, there was a different vibe at the home of the Monsters of the Midway. Fans held up red placards that read “one goal achieved.” Players took turns hoisting and kissing the Cup as fans cheered.

The crowd roared a few minutes into the rally when Kane leaned in to the microphone, asked “What’s up, Chicago?” and invited out Toews, who walked onto the stage holding the Cup above his arms.

There were highlight videos. There were touching moments, like the nod to Mikita and Kris Versteeg awarding the player of the game championship belt to the young son of Reif. He did not have the title with him, but it was a heartfelt, symbolic gesture.

There were also some lighter moments, like when CEO Rocky Wirtz decided to take this playful dig at Tampa Bay following a tornado warning in the Chicago area two hours before Game 6: “Anyone notice the rain on Monday night? I didn’t see any lightning.”

Team President John McDonough felt the wrath from at least some in the crowd when he thanked Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who stood on the podium dressed in a gray Blackhawks T-shirt.

He had them cheering moments later, when he said: “Today as we celebrate the third Stanley Cup in six seasons, I wanted to reiterate that our goal will always be to reward your allegiance to the Chicago Blackhawks.”

The Blackhawks let Crawford speak, too. His comments were PG-rated compared to the colorful speech the usually cheap jerseys reserved goaltender gave at the rally two years ago in Grant Park, although he did start this one with a word not fit for print or the airwaves.

Toward the end of the festivities, Versteeg and Joakim Nordstrom grabbed the microphone and started singing the lyrics to Macklemore’s “And We Danced.” They asked the crowd to sing and dance along with the team as confetti fell.

It was quite a celebration. And a familiar scene.

Dallas Eakins joins San Diego Gulls as new AHL coach for Anaheim Ducks

ANAHEIM — When Dallas Eakins Jerseys was fired by the Edmonton Oilers jerseys last December, he retreated to his home in Vancouver and re-discovered a missing piece of his life: His family.

Gone was the scrutiny of trying to resurrect a storied franchise. No more five-game, eight-day road trips. Eakins settled into a normal life after coming to terms with his termination.

“I can’t even put it into words,” Eakins said. “It was very hard at the start. Time heals wounds. You know you’re away from the family. [I have] two little girls. I didn’t know exactly how much I was missing out until these last six months. It’s a time I will never forget.”

During those six months, Eakins made a trip to Anaheim to inquire about the next phase of his coaching career. The San Diego Gulls, who became the American Hockey League affiliate for the Anaheim Ducks Jerseys, had an opening.

His daughters, ages 3 and 7, were wholesale jerseys too young to really comprehend the move but Eakins’ wife shared his excitement. It’s a new start, from snow to sunshine.

“I don’t know what to do with these snow shovels and all these winter coats,” said Eakins, whose hiring as Gulls coach was announced Friday.

“We’re a bike family. I just have to make sure we [have a place where we] have enough room for the bikes.”

It’s a common script: A young coach fails at his first NHL job and goes back to the minors to reset. New York Rangers Jerseys coach Alain Vigneault Jerseys was fired by the Montreal Canadiens Jerseys and spent three seasons coaching at the junior and AHL level before he became coach of the Vancouver Canucks Jerseys.

Eakins spend part of his hiatus reading up on New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, whose career dipped before he rebounded with New England. He had no interest in being an NHL assistant coach next season, and his previous AHL success with the Toronto Marlies made him a fit for San Diego in its cheap nhl jerseys inaugural season in the league.

Eakins compiled a 157-114-41 record with the Marlies and led them to the 2012 Calder Cup Final.

“He was on the radar from day one,” Anaheim general manager Bob Murray Jerseys said. “He’s a teacher and communicator. We got lucky.”

Murray has known Eakins for a long time and said he brings the same qualities of Ducks assistant coach Trent Yawney Jerseys.

“They both get the same results,” Murray said. “They both make players better. They have the patience and the understanding to make players better.”

Eakins made it clear that an NHL return is not on his mind at this stage and was very complimentary of his time in the AHL with the Marlies. He was reluctant to reflect on his tenure with the Oilers, who were 7-19-5 this past season when they fired Eakins.

Edmonton has not made the Stanley Cup Playoffs in nine seasons although it has three straight No. 1 draft picks on its roster. Eakins said it was a tough situation right, and that in the future if there is another opportunity in the NHL he thinks that experience will help him.

“What’s interesting when you go through this is that the perception of you is, ‘What have you done for me [lately]?’” Eakins said. “So I think the perception is a negative one about my coaching right now, coming out cheap jerseys of Edmonton. But when I came out of Toronto, I thought I was a very good coach, and I believe I’m 10 times the coach now.”

Eakins wants to mold the Gulls on and off the ice. He wants them to be involved in the community and embrace the fan base. First, he has to familiarize himself with the city, where he last visited as an opposing player with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the International Hockey League.

“I don’t have much memories of that,” he said. “I don’t even think we got around town. I’m excited to get in there.”

How the Rays’ defense has bolstered their pitching

As the All-Star break approaches, the most surprising division leader remains the Houston Astros Jerseys. But the Tampa Bay Rays, who led the AL East by cheap nba jerseys 1.5 games through Thursday, are a close second.

There may not have been a consensus AL East favorite heading into the season, but given the Rays’ radical overhaul — over the last 12 months, Tampa Bay has traded away David Price Jerseys, Wil Myers Jerseys, Ben Zobrist Jerseys, Yunel Escobar Jerseys, Jeremy Hellickson Jerseys, Matt Joyce Jerseys, Ryan Hanigan Jerseys, Joel Peralta Jerseys and Cesar Ramos Jerseys, and wholesale jerseys in return has primarily received prospects who have not yet contributed at the major league level — the opinion was near-unanimous that it wouldn’t be Tampa Bay. Only 1 of 88 ESPN experts picked the Rays to win the division before the season. But the AL East has not played out according to the preseason script, beginning with the disappointing Red Sox. The Rays cheap jerseys do not lead the East by default, however, as every other team in the division is comfortably above .500.

To overcome its many personnel losses and contend this season, Tampa Bay needed its younger players to break out and become the team’s new stars. And several players have done so, most notably starting pitcher Chris Archer Jerseys. Archer has increased his strikeout rate by nearly three strikeouts per nine innings compared with last season. He has reduced his walk rate by more than a walk per nine. He’s also throwing more innings per start and is on pace to exceed 200 innings for the first time in his career. According to FanGraphs’ Wins Above Replacement (WAR), Archer is tied with Chris Sale Jerseys as the second-most-valuable starter in baseball, trailing only Max Scherzer Jerseys.

Timberwolves select Towns with No. 1 pick in NBA draft

NEW YORK (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves got their man in the middle. The Lakers got a playmaking partner for Kobe Bryant.

Knicks fans just got mad — though not for long.

Minnesota selected Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns with the first pick in the NBA draft on Thursday night, the first of three straight freshmen chosen before New York chose Latvian forward Kristaps Porzingis, triggering loud, long boos from their fans inside Barclays Center.

They were cheering cheap jerseys later in the first round when the Knicks acquired the rights to Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant from Atlanta for Tim Hardaway Jr.

Before that, the Timberwolves went for a center in their first time owning the No. 1 pick. They can add him to a young roster featuring Rookie of the Year Andrew Wiggins, who was picked first last year by Cleveland and later dealt to Minnesota in the Kevin Love trade.

Towns’ selection wasn’t a surprise — though he said he didn’t know until it was announced.

“When Mr. Adam Silver came out, I saw him, and he said, ‘With the No. 1 pick’, I was racing,” said Towns, who was sitting with Kentucky coach John Calipari.

“I told Coach Cal before when he first came out that I was trying to drink the water and I was shaking uncontrollably, and I told him, ‘Coach, don’t give me the ball right now for the last-second shot. I wouldn’t make it.'”

The Los Angeles Lakers then took guard D’Angelo Russell of Ohio State, who was wearing a scarlet jacket, bowtie and shoes that matched the Buckeyes’ school colors.

Red — or some shade of it — was the color of choice in the green room, though Towns wore a grey jacket and Russell’s table later turned gold when his supporters donned Lakers hats.

He drew huge cheers when he was announced but his crowd was dwarfed by Towns’. The New Jersey native said he had above 50 family and friends in attendance.

“This is home to me,” he said. “Been able to come here and have all my closest friends and love ones come out cheap nba jerseys here. It’s the most special moments in my life.”

The 6-foot-11 Towns averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in just 21 minutes per game, as Kentucky used a platoon system in winning its first 38 games and reaching the Final Four.

It was Kentucky’s third No. 1 pick in the last six years, joining Anthony Davis in 2012 and John Wall in 2010. The Wildcats were hoping to have a record seven players picked and were well on their way when Sacramento took center Willie Cauley-Stein with the sixth pick, Utah grabbed Trey Lyles at No. 12 and guard Devin Booker followed one spot later to Phoenix.

Booker, at 18 the youngest player in the draft, gave the Wildcats a record-tying four players among the top 14 selections. Duke in 1999 and North Carolina in 2005 also had four lottery picks.

“Just shows our team was special. Unlike any other,” Lyles said. “Still got three other guys going to go tonight.”

But they had to settle for tying the record with six selections, as Dakari Johnson and Andrew Harrison went in the second round, but Aaron Harrison was not picked.

For weeks, Towns and Duke’s Jahlil Okafor had been considered the top two selections. But the Lakers instead decided on backcourt help with a player who can step right in and play alongside Bryant in what could be the superstar’s final season.

“Kobe’s a great dude,” Russell said. “Not knowing how much he has left in the tank is the scary thing. I’m really looking forward to him taking me under his wing if possible and feed me the most knowledge he wholesale jerseys can and use that as fire against my opponents.”

Okafor fell to the Philadelphia 76ers at No. 3, becoming the 19th lottery selection and 29th first-round pick — most in NCAA history — under coach Mike Krzyzewski. Those numbers increased when Miami drafted Justise Winslow 10th and Cleveland took Tyus Jones at No. 24 — though his rights were later dealt to Minnesota.

The Knicks ended the run of one-and-dones when they took Porzingis with the No. 4 pick. The 19-year-old forward had been surging up draft boards but Knicks fans, who haven’t forgotten the drafting of Frederic Weis and were underwhelmed by the acquisition of Andrea Bargnani, wanted no part of him, booing lustily after his name was called by Silver.

“Lot of fans weren’t happy they drafted me,” Porzingis said. “I have to do everything in my hands to turn those booing fans into clapping fans. I was happy about it. Want to be part of this organization, the fans are harsh sometimes, that’s how it is in New York and I’m ready for it.”

Another international player followed, as Orlando took Croatian Mario Hezonja at No. 5, and Emmanuel Mudiay, born in Congo, raised in Texas and a professional last season in China, went seventh to Denver. Detroit took Arizona’s Stanley Johnson eighth before national player of the year Frank Kaminsky went to Charlotte at No. 9.

The Lakers later added Wyoming’s Larry Nance Jr. with the No. 27 pick, while Boston used its two first-round selections on Terry Rozier of Louisville (16th) and R.J. Hunter of Georgia State (28th).

The NBA champion Golden State Warriors used the 30th and final pick of the first round on UCLA forward Kevon Looney, who thought he could be a lottery pick and instead lasted so long he left the green room before returning shortly before he was selected.

The final picks included the usual assortment of international players, running the final tally to 14.

AFC East Q&A: What impact will Tom Brady’s suspension have?

Today’s question: How much of an impact will Tom Brady Jerseys‘s suspension have on the New England Patriots Jerseys‘ AFC East rivals?

Mike Rodak, Buffalo Bills Jerseys: The Bills host the Patriots in Week 2, so naturally Brady’s suspension gives the Bills a better chance to win that game. Still, I think the effect of Brady’s absence might be overstated for two reasons. First, the Bills have hosted the Patriots in early-season games in each of the past four seasons and have either kept it wholesale jerseys competitive for most of the contest, or won — as Buffalo did in 2011, intercepting Brady four times. Second, the Patriots have historically been strong in the second half of the season, winning nearly 75 percent of their November and December games since 2008. Brady went 2-2 in his first four games last season and won a Super Bowl, so I don’t think the Bills beating a Jimmy Garoppolo Jerseys-led team in September would have a dramatic impact on the remainder of the season. It’s that Monday night game in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Nov. 23 that the Bills must win, and Brady will almost certainly be starting.

James Walker, Miami Dolphins Jerseys: Not much for the Dolphins. Brady should be under center for both meetings against Miami in Weeks 8 and 17. The Dolphins have actually been competitive against the Patriots the past two seasons, splitting the past four head-to-head meetings and winning both games at home. That’s a good step forward for the Dolphins, who play with more confidence and swagger against the Patriots at cheap nfl jerseys Sun Life Stadium. However, Miami still played like a deer in the headlights at Gillette Stadium in recent years. An even bigger step for Miami would be to make sure its meeting with New England in the regular-season finale has playoff implications for both teams.

Rich Cimini, New York Jets Jerseys: It will have little impact on the Jets because they don’t face the Patriots until the sixth game. If anything, it could work against New York in that particular meeting. If the four-game suspension stands, it would be Brady’s first home game. The Jets would be walking into a Brady pep rally; Gillette Stadium would be electric. Oh, by the way, the Jets have lost six straight regular-season games in Foxborough. Taking a big picture view, if Brady’s absence causes the Patriots to lose games they ordinarily would win, yeah, the suspension will impact the standings. But it won’t dramatically change cheap jerseys the landscape. As always, the Patriots are the team to beat in the AFC East, and that won’t change if he misses four games or two or one. The Jets finished eight games behind New England in 2014 — eight! — so it’s not like they’re lurking nearby, waiting for the right moment to pull ahead. Offseason improvements notwithstanding, the Jets will need more than a Brady suspension to overcome their longtime nemesis.

Rumblings: Goalie market will get serious soon

The goalie trade market will move in a hurry, one presumes, once the first deal is done this week.

The domino effect, as they say.

“That’s usually the case,” veteran general manager Bryan Murray of the Ottawa Senators Jerseys told on Wednesday morning from Las Vegas.

Murray is part of that intriguing goalie seller’s market, listening on both Robin Lehner Jerseys and Craig Anderson Jerseys. The Vancouver Canucks Jerseys continue to listen on Eddie Lack Jerseys and Jacob Markstrom Jerseys. The Los Angeles Kings Jerseys could deal their restricted free agent Martin Jones Jerseys.

And the New York Rangers will deal Cam Talbot Jerseys. A source said that six teams are after Talbot right now.

“There are a couple of cheap nhl jerseys teams — it seems to me three or four teams are at least looking, I’ve been talking to a couple of them quite seriously,” Murray said. “But they’re waiting right now maybe to see what happens with other goaltenders, obviously the price other teams are asking versus another team. That’s all part of the scenario right now.”

The Edmonton Oilers Jerseys, Buffalo Sabres Jerseys and San Jose Sharks Jerseys are the most eager teams looking for a goalie. The Calgary Flames Jerseys have also called around a bit; they haven’t re-signed pending unrestricted free-agent goalie Karri Ramo Jerseys at this point.

Murray, who has cheap jerseys a crowded crease after re-signing Andrew Hammond Jerseys, is more likely to move Lehner, who is 23 and has more upside than the veteran Anderson.

And while Murray was careful not to mention Lehner by name, it’s pretty clear that’s who he was hinting at when examining the goalies available on the trade market.

“I believe I’ve got the best guy by a fair margin,” said Murray. “That’s my belief, but that doesn’t necessarily fit with everyone else I guess.”

Lehner is under contract for two more seasons ($2.25 million cap hit) and retains restricted-free-agent status for another two seasons after wholesale jerseys that. So he’s controllable for longer than Talbot or Lack are.

When does the first goalie trade go down? Murray figured as always that teams will get the most series just before the first round of the draft Friday.

“Yeah, I’m not sure it will be on the floor, but it will be right around that time frame I think,” Murray said. “Unless somebody really feels that they want to be safe and get it done before that and be comfortable that they have their goaltender. That might happen today or tomorrow. But I suspect it will drag a little bit [to Friday].”

There are free-agent options out there, too, such as Ramo, Michal Neuvirth Jerseys and Antti Niemi Jerseys. And obviously Devan Dubnyk Jerseys will lead the pack if he can’t come to terms on a new deal with the Minnesota Wild Jerseys.

Young Indians fan makes nice play on foul ball, Miguel Cabrera gives him bat/gloves

A young Cleveland fan made a nice hat catch on a ground ball during Tuesday’s 7-3 Tigers’ victory over the Indians. After he did it, he wanted some respect cheap jerseys from one of the best players in the game: Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera:

He was fired wholesale jerseys up and felt that Miggy needed to be fired up as well:

As you can see, Miggy recognized the eager whippersnapper’s efforts. So much so, that after the inning, he gave the kid (Dominic from Avon, Ohio) a pair cheap mlb jerseys of gloves and a bat:

Crossing team lines to embrace a young fan? This is what it’s all about. Here’s Dominic on his memorable moment with the two-time MVP:

Karl-Anthony Towns: ‘No promise’ from Wolves

— Karl-Anthony Towns has heard his name connected to the Timberwolves for the upcoming NBA draft for more than a month now, with the Kentucky big man seemingly destined to land in Minnesota on Thursday night.

Even after a report surfaced Monday that the Timberwolves have already informed Towns that he will be the No. 1 overall pick, he wasn’t taking anything for granted.

“If I had a promise I would go start eating ice cream and getting fat,” Towns joked to The Associated Press on Monday evening. “There is absolutely no promise at all. Right now I’m just trying to see where I’ll be playing. I have no idea.”

The Wolves have the first pick for the first time in franchise history, the product of a miserable 16-66 season and some lottery luck that finally fell in their favor.

The Wolves spent all last week hosting the top prospects in the class cheap jerseys at their shiny new practice facility, including Duke center Jahlil Okafor, Ohio State point guard D’Angelo Russell and Emmanuel Mudiay, a point guard who spent last season playing in China. The final visit of the week came from Towns, who dined with Timberwolves president and coach Flip Saunders and owner Glen Taylor on Friday and then went through a workout in front of Wolves officials on Saturday.

The Timberwolves were the only team for which Towns held an individual workout, and he said Monday he enjoyed meeting officials and getting a brief tour of downtown Minneapolis.

“Flip Saunders is a great coach and a great guy. Glen Taylor is the same way. He’s a great human being,” Towns said. “We just talked more about how do I feel about basketball and just about life, just trying to learn more about my personality.”

Towns was reached during a tour with American Express to promote the Home Court Advantage Rookie Draft Desk Series, a set of four videos with Okafor, Russell and Wisconsin’s Frank Kaminsky that “gives fans a chance to see us more as people than basketball players” and shows their best moments on the court as well.

Towns had plenty of those in his lone season at Kentucky, helping the Wildcats reach the Final Four. His ability to play both power forward and center, his defensive prowess and ability to hit free throws helped move him to the top of the draft boards.

The tradition-rich Los Angeles Lakers hold the No. 2 pick, but Towns said he had cheap nba jerseys no hesitation going to an organization that hasn’t made the playoffs in 11 years and has never been to the NBA Finals.

“It doesn’t matter to me where I play,” Towns said. “It matters what you do at the place you play at. It doesn’t matter how successful or how unsuccessful a team is. It can all change with one pick.”

The long-struggling Wolves are starving for a player unafraid of coming to the frigid climate to join a team that has been forever rebuilding. But with reigning rookie of the year Andrew Wiggins Jerseys, point guard Ricky Rubio Jerseys expected back healthy and that $25 million practice facility, the hope in Minnesota is that success is finally near.

“We want to give these guys a chance to develop and develop at a more rapid rate, and I believe that we’ve proven as an organization that we can develop players and you look at how Wiggins developed from when we got him to where he was at the end of the year, and we’ll continue to try to do the same with who we take at the No. 1 pick,” Saunders said after the Wolves won the lottery.

Taylor said after missing on high draft picks like Derrick Williams Jerseys, Wesley Johnson Jerseys and Jonny Flynn in recent seasons, finding a motivated player who was hungry to improve was one of the top priorities in making the decision.

“I just think in the past we had some players who had a great college career but didn’t step it up wholesale jerseys afterwards,” Taylor said. “We have to be really cautious that doesn’t happen to us. For us to win, we have to have some people like KG, who was just never satisfied with how good he was and always wanted to be better.”

Taylor, of course, was referring to veteran Kevin Garnett Jerseys, who returned to the Timberwolves in a midseason trade in February and is expected to sign another contract in July.

“To maybe possibly even play with him would be a great experience if I’m given the opportunity, the privilege and the honor,” Towns said.

Marshawn Lynch takes part in Warriors’ championship parade

Seattle Seahawks Jerseys running back Marshawn Lynch Jerseys took part in his hometown celebration Friday and joined in the parade for the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

Lynch rode in the parade on a double-decker bus with Warriors forward Draymond Green Jerseys. Lynch, who rarely speaks to reporters, cheap nba jerseys even did an interview afterward with CSN Bay Area, cheap nfl jerseys standing with Green’s mother.

“This is very big for me,” Lynch said. “It’s been a while. I don’t think I’ve seen a championship in Oakland. Being part of a parade is cool for me.”

He said the wholesale jerseys Warriors remind him of the “brotherhood” the Seahawks have.

Lynch attended Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena as the Warriors started the series with a 108-100 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers Jerseys. Lynch had a conversation with Golden State coach Steve Kerr.

“I told Coach Kerr, ‘You gotta go get a championship,'” Lynch said Friday. “I can’t be the only one from Oakland with a championship.”

People started lining up as early as 3 a.m., and city officials cheap jerseys estimated at least 500,000 fans packed the streets when the parade started about 10 a.m.

Flames sign forward Backlund to multiyear contract

Center Mikael Backlund Jerseys signed a multiyear contract with the Calgary Flames Jerseys, the Flames announced Saturday.

Terms were not disclosed, cheap jerseys but TSN reported it is for three years and $10.725 million.

“I just wanted to get a good deal for a few years wholesale jerseys in Calgary,” Backlund said in comments tweeted by the Calgary Sun.

Selected 24th in the 2007 NHL Draft, Backlund set career highs last season with 18 goals and 39 points. He had 10 goals and 27 points in 52 games this season after missing 30 games because of an abdominal injury that required surgery, and had a goal and two points in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Backlund, 26, is third on the Flames with 28 goals and sixth with 66 points the past two seasons.

“I honestly feel he’s coming cheap nhl jerseys into his own. The last year or two, he’s defined who he is as a NHL player,” Flames general manager Brad Treliving said, according to the Sun.
